Hilton Head Health is conducting a special Women’s Wellness Series exclusively for WAHHI! Attend this 3-class wellness series with your guest at their facility located in Shipyard Plantation at 14 Valencia Road, HHI. All classes will be held at Hilton Head Health and include an optional tour of their facility, including their award-winning Indigo Spa. The wellness series fee for members is $50, and the fee for guests is $60. Hilton Head Health will donate all proceeds to the WAHHI Charitable Fund. Hilton Head Health’s Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator, Elizabeth Huggins will lead you through today’s nutrition jungle of trendy diets (such as Keto, Paleo and Flexitarian) and hot nutrition buzz words to help sort fact from fiction. You will learn pros and cons of various diets to help you determine which approach is sustainable and best for your overall health.
Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Texas at Austin and later went on to receive her Master’s in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Florida. In addition to being a Registered Dietitian, she is a Certified Diabetes Educator®through the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators. She has over 26 years of experience in helping people to improve their health through lifestyle modification involving nutrition and fitness.
WAHHI member Sofia Maley is a certified personal trainer who is ready, willing and able to help improve your fitness and wellness! She is National Academy of Sports Medicine certified Personal Trainer, Senior Fitness specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Fitness Nutrition specialist. She operates from Breakthrough Fitness (located 130 Arrow Road, HHI) and is by appointment.
Everyday Sofia is committed to educate her clients on the importance of exercise and help understand that a healthy lifestyle is a balance between a well-rounded diet and exercise. It’s not all about the physical appearance when it comes to exercise, it’s about the benefits to your heart and health as well as keeping your muscles and bones strong in order to stay independent as we age. Several physiological and anatomical changes occur within the human body as we age. Physical activity performance diminishes, such as in exercise, and general daily activities, and increases the risk for injury. While many physical changes are inevitable, habitual participation and a commitment to physical activity, good nutrition, and other healthy choices can prevent and reduce the effect of changes or injury and may manipulate the expression of genetic code as well as counteract a majority of the chronic health conditions leading to mortality in older adults.
For WAHHI members, for one-on-one personal training, Sofia is charging: $65 for one hour; $50 for 45 minutes; and $40 for 30 minutes. For small group training (two or more people), Sofia charges $45 for 60 minutes; $35 for 40 minutes; and $30 for 30 minutes. WAHHI ladies will enjoy a private boat where you can BYOB, bring food, relax and enjoy the trip while being able to cover more ground for the two hour trip.
Trips are offered Monday and Wednesday every other week at two tour times: 8am and 10:30am in September, October, and March-August. Mention “WAHHI” when booking your $45 tour for three (3) people minimum and six (6) people maximum.
Blue Pearl Marine Dolphin and Nature Tour is operated by USCG licensed Captain Ryan Maley who has 17+ years experience navigating the low country waters. This tour offers unparalleled views of glorious wildlife and the inlets that make up our beautiful Lowcountry. Each trip is an opportunity to experience something new with the wide variety of wildlife and beauty our island has to offer and an atmosphere that other dolphin cruises just cannot compete with; a private boat where you’ll have the ability to cover more area than other slow moving charters.
